It's important for people to figure out their own lives before involving someone else - to gauge where you are and work on your own issues. - Scarlett Johansson
have you noticed that when someone goes ‘i was bitten by a dog once and now I’m kinda wary around them’ most people are like ‘aw, I understand’ but if a woman says she’s been raped/abused by men in the past and is now scared of them she gets told she’s paranoid and needs to get over it?
I noticed that.
have you noticed that when a dog bites a person, it gets put down

I’m okay with being alone most days. But sometimes it really does hurt. When I lay in bed and think about a pair of arms attached to a faceless person wrapping around me. When I think of the feeling of a chest rising and falling behind my back and the sensation of soft, controlled breath on my ear. When I look at my phone and miss the “good morning” “good night” and general texts of wonderment about how and what I’m doing. When I look down at my hand and think of how another would look, clasped firmly inside it, a thumb rubbing my knuckles gently. It’s when I look at couples and see the sparkle in their eyes, the stolen kisses when they think I’m not looking, the arm draped casually over the shoulders or around the waist. I miss the butterflies that always felt more like dragons flying around inside my stomach at the anticipation of that first kiss after being apart for a long time or even just for a day or two. The adventures. The pictures. The moments in bed on a snowy morning or a rainy afternoon. Sitting in a too loud bar trying to find words but always finding kisses…
Loneliness never stops hurting, it just becomes tolerable. A dull ache that turns into something harsher with each passing day yet it is expected.
I don’t need a partner to be happy. But sometimes it would be nice to have someone I know care that I am.
